2nd Monday

Today we went to Cartago for visitation. Cartago is about 30 minutes from San Jose. It used to be the capital of Costa Rica until the Irazu volcano erupted from 1963 to 1965 and dumped lot of ash into the city. So then they moved the capital to San Jose.

There is a fellowship that meets at “Yud Fad” restaurant every Thursday at 10pm. So we meet this morning at this restaurant that serves wood fire BBQ chicken which was out of this world.

We split up into 6 groups and went visiting the whole morning. My team visited three small grocery stores and invited the owners to the fellowship on Thursday. We had good conversations with all of them, but did not get any commitment to come. We sure did a lot of walking.

We came back to “Yud Fad” for lunch and then visited the church of the Virgin of Los Angeles which is the main patron of Costa Rica. According to the legend a little girl found this statue of the virgin on top of a rock in the forest. She took the statue home. The next day she went to the same rock and found another statue of the virgin. Overjoyed she thought now she has two statues. To her surprise the statue at home disappeared. She did this several times with the same results. She then told the local priest about the phenomena who went to investigate. So he took the statue and put it in a church. To his surprise the same phenomena happen to him as the little girl. So with that they decided to build a church on top of this rock since this where the statue insisted being there. There were a lot of people today visiting the church offering prayers and asking for healing.

In the afternoon, we continued visiting two more grocery stores and one restaurant.

Now what is wrong with this picture?

Kenny had a nightmare last night. He dreamt that Melody was cutting papaya and then was using a spoon to scoop the seeds out. Somehow she thought that the papaya got dirtied and tried to wash it. Kenny was surprised and asked “how can this be?” That was the nightmare.
